Global Warming and the Ice Sheets
The Greenland ice sheet contains the equivalent of
about seven meters of sea level rise, the Antarctic ice sheet contains over 60
meters of sea level rise.

Climatic changes
appear to be destabilizing vast ice sheets of western Antarctica that had
previously seemed relatively protected from global warming, researchers reported
yesterday, raising the prospect of faster sea-level rise than current estimates.
The massive glaciers are
deteriorating twice as fast as they were five years ago. If the ice thaws
entirely, sea level would rise 21 feet.
When it melts ???
